Boylston Surgical was formed in 2024.

The original founding research and development
company, Synthasome, spent 10 years perfecting this
unique product family.  

The focus was to bring novel innovations to tissue
engineering and advanced solutions to orthopedic
surgeries.

Our first product, BioTend, is a woven Poly-L-Lactic
mesh for use in most major tendon and ligament surgical
repairs and has FDA clearance for such procedures.
Its woven design mimics the mechanical properties of
human tendons and ligaments, facilitating stronger, more
functional, more resilient repairs. The poly-l-lactic acid fibers slowly and safely absorb into the body over a period of 9-12 months, ensuring patients do not need follow-up surgeries to remove them. After over 3,000 surgeries, BioTend has not had a single safety concern or negative reaction in a patient.

Our Mission
The mission of Boylston Surgical is to extend and improve the quality of life through the development of orthobiologics products that aid in the repair, regeneration, or replacement of damaged soft tissues including tendon, ligament, and articular cartilage. The company shall also advance the field of regenerative medicine through high-quality scientific and engineering research and product development.
